Freelancing Digital Marketer, and my journey with Amudhakumar's Digital Marketing Course has been truly life-changing. Coming from a village background as an engineering graduate, I was looking for a career that would allow me to work independently and support my family. My name is Pothum Ponnu, and whenever someone asks me how I built a successful work-from-home digital marketing career while raising two children, I always smile because my journey never started with confidence.
It started with confusion.
Back in 2018, I was just another engineering graduate from a small village near Karaikudi. Like thousands of graduates, I came to Chennai with one dream to find a decent job and support my family.
After searching for opportunities, I finally got selected as a receptionist in a private company. I was happy because at least I had a job. But little did I know that this job would completely change the direction of my life.
One day, my manager told me,
"Whenever there are no visitors or phone calls, you can work on our website's SEO."
I had never heard about Search Engine Optimization in detail.
I didn't know what keywords were.
I didn't know how Google rankings worked.
I didn't know what on-page SEO or off-page SEO meant.
Like everyone else, I opened YouTube and started learning from free videos. I spent hours watching tutorials and reading blogs.
But everything looked disconnected.
One person taught one method.
Another person said something completely different.
The more videos I watched, the more confused I became.
That's when I searched for a professional SEO training program and found Mr. Amudhakumar's Digital Marketing Training Institute in Guindy.
I still remember making that phone call.
Within an hour of speaking to him, I reached his institute for counselling.
That meeting changed my life.
Instead of immediately asking me to join the course, he first understood my background.
He asked about my education.
My family.
My job.
My dreams.
My struggles.
Then he honestly told me something that I still remember even today.

My spoken English wasn't fluent.

Every assignment became practical learning.
Every mistake became an experience.
Every correction made me better.
Unlike many courses that end after completing the syllabus, this journey was different.
Whenever I got stuck, I simply called my mentor.
Whenever Google introduced changes, I discussed them with him.
Whenever I lacked confidence, he motivated me.
Slowly, I began executing SEO campaigns with confidence.
Seeing my dedication and execution skills, something unexpected happened.
Mr. Amudhakumar recommended me to his partner's technology company, Technovators.
That recommendation became my first major career breakthrough.
My monthly salary jumped from ₹6,000 to ₹18,000.
For many people, it may look like just another salary hike.
For me...
It was proof that I could actually build a career in Digital Marketing.
That confidence changed everything.
After gaining one year of experience, I joined another company as a Senior Digital Marketing Executive with a monthly salary of ₹25,000.
But my journey didn't stop there.
My mentor encouraged me to explore freelancing.
Initially, I was scared.
Who would trust me?
Would clients pay me?
Could I manage multiple projects?
He simply said,
"Start with one project. Experience will teach you everything else."
I listened.
Soon I started working with SEO clients during evenings after office hours.
One project became two.
Two became three.
Each client paid around ₹10,000 every month.
Within a short period, I was earning nearly ₹30,000 every month through freelancing alone, apart from my regular salary.
For the first time in my life, I realised something very powerful.
My income was no longer limited by my salary.
It was limited only by my skills.
Then came COVID.
While many people were struggling to adapt to remote work, I was already comfortable managing digital marketing projects online.
During the day, I worked for my full-time company from home.
During evenings, I handled my freelance SEO projects.
That phase made me realise that I didn't need an office to build a successful career.
All I needed was a laptop, an internet connection, and the digital marketing skills I had learned.
After my marriage, I moved from Karaikudi to Karaikal.
Many people thought marriage would slow down my career.
Instead, it gave me a new purpose.
Today, in 2026, I am blessed with two beautiful children.
I continue working completely from home as a Freelancing Digital Marketing Executive, managing SEO and digital marketing projects for multiple clients while also taking care of my family.
The best part is that my career gives me both financial independence and the flexibility to be with my children.
Looking back, I realise that the course itself lasted only two months.
But the mentorship never ended.
Even today, whenever I face a technical challenge, an SEO update, a client issue, or simply need guidance, I still call my mentor.
The relationship never remained that of a trainer and student.
It became a lifelong mentorship.
That continuous guidance has helped me stay relevant in the ever-changing digital marketing industry.
If someone had told the younger version of me that one day I would work from home, manage multiple SEO clients, earn independently, become a mother of two, and still continue growing professionally, I probably wouldn't have believed it.
But today, I am living that reality.
Digital Marketing didn't just give me a career.
It gave me confidence.
It gave me financial freedom.
It gave me flexibility.
It gave me the opportunity to continue my profession after marriage and motherhood.
Most importantly, it proved that your background, your village, your English, or your starting salary never decides your future.
Your willingness to learn, execute, and never stop improving does.
